Welcome to the National Federation of the Blind of Massachusetts.
The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of our members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines us or our future and every day we raise the expectations for blind people because we recognize the low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.

Fresh Pond Reservoir, Cambridge, MA
Join us for the David Ticchi Walk, a community tradition that celebrates empowerment, advocacy, and inclusion. Funds from the walk directly support programs that empower and educate the blind community, including:
- Braille Education Literacy and Learning (BELL) Academy: Building confidence and life skills, such as cooking and crafting, for blind children.
- Scholarships: Supporting blind students pursuing higher education.
- Advocacy: Engaging members with local, state, and national initiatives to promote the rights and opportunities of blind individuals.
- Leadership Development: Supporting seminars and programs designed to cultivate emerging leaders among blind students and adults.
- Annual State Convention: The largest gathering of blind people in Massachusetts for training, support, and democratic governance.
By participating, you help individuals who are blind live the life they want while raising expectations and strengthening opportunities for independence, inclusion, and leadership.

Join the National Federation of the Blind of Massachusetts (NFBMA) At Large Chapter for a special morning of walking, friendship, and fellowship at Walden Pond as part of the 2026 National Federation of the Blind (NFB) Coast to Coast Movement Challenge. We'll gather at the Walden Pond Visitor's Center before enjoying an approximately one-mile walk to Thoreau's cabin, surrounded by the natural beauty of Walden Pond. Following the walk, participants will come together for lunch on the Visitor's Center deck, providing an opportunity to relax, connect with fellow Federation members, and strengthen friendships.
Through this event, we are helping to break down barriers and raise expectations of blind people while supporting programs that provide free white canes, promote Braille literacy, introduce blind youth to STEM education, and advocate for equal opportunities in education and employment.
Whether you join us for the walk, make a contribution, or help spread the word, your support makes a difference. Come enjoy the outdoors, connect with your Federation family, and help blind people live the lives they want!

We are a movement built on love, hope, courage, and determination. Together, we challenge barriers, open doors, lift one another up, raise expectations, and turn dreams into reality.
So go ahead—spark the conversation! Let people ask, “Who are we?” and boldly answer:
WE ARE THE NFB!
Proud of who we are. Proud of what we can do. Proud of the future we are building—together!
Show Your NFB Pride and Start a Conversation
We have created a wonderfully designed shirt to help bring awareness to the National Federation of the Blind while walking, running, advocating, attending events, or simply making people more aware of the NFB and the capabilities of blind people.
There are four styles to choose from and a multitude of colors. The back boldly states, “NFB — Who Are We? Ask Me.” On the front, NFB is written diagonally across the shirt, with National Federation of the Blind spelled out in smaller lettering. The design is meant to show our pride and start conversations. When someone asks about the NFB, we have another opportunity to share who we are, what we believe, and what blind people can accomplish.
If you would like to boldly show your pride and start a conversation, get yours today! It would be great to see the whole team wearing one when we are together at NFB events, walks, advocacy activities, and community gatherings. The Bonfire ordering site has also been found to be very accessible.
