State Scholarship Program

The NFB of Massachusetts is pleased to announce the availability of scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year. Up to 3 scholarships will be awarded, including 1 for $3,000.00 and 2 for $1,500.00 each. Please read all instructions carefully and pay close attention to the deadlines.

Scholarship Application Deadline:

February 7, 2024.

Eligibility:

As a scholarship applicant, you must:

  • Be legally blind or have a visual impairment that requires the student to obtain services from a teacher of the visually impaired;
  • Be a resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts;
  • Plan to pursue a full-time, postsecondary course of study in the 2024 - 2025 academic year;
  • Have not previously won a NFBMA scholarship more than twice for the same degree

To apply for a scholarship, you must:

  • arrange for three reference letters from professors, counselors, and/or employers who have worked with you within the past year to be sent to scholarships@nfbma.org with the word “reference” and your name in the subject line by February 7, 2024;
  • Participate in the entire National Federation of the Blind of Massachusetts state convention, to be held in-person Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17, 2024 at the Salem Waterfront Hotel and Suites located at 225 Derby Street, Salem, Massachusetts;
  • Send your completed scholarship application to scholarships@nfbma.org with the word “scholarship” in the subject line by Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

Applications must be received on or before February 7, 2024.
